Applying for an unabridged birth certificate in Cape Town

When a baby is newly born the parents will receive an unabridged certificate without any costs at the time of registration of the birth at the Immigration Services (IMS) Inspectorate.

When you need a new copy or in the case that you lost your birth certificate you can visit the Home Affairs office in Cape Town for a replacement.

What you need

- original ID card or a certified copy
-the fee for the application (please call 021 468 4558 | 021 468 4559 for the costs)
